Calling an Audible in 2020

In the spring of 2018, I wrote a post about (pardon my potential misuse of a football reference) calling an audible. Well, it’s nearly two years later, and I find myself in a similar place: wanting to edit a few of the year’s goals in addition to lacking even a basic understanding of sports terminology. So here’s what I’m planning on changing:

Explore under the sea ➡️ Hike a new trail | I wrote the goal to explore under the sea when I was in Florida, wanting to push myself to make the most of my southern residence. Now that I am living in Western New York, I want to make it a goal to try out one of the many hiking trails throughout the region that I have never explored.

Take an online course in a subject I’m unfamiliar with ➡️ Take a class in an unfamiliar subject | This is a simple edit, but now that I work for a university and have the ability to take classes as part of the employee benefits package, I want to challenge myself to try an on-campus class in a new subject.

Learn basic coding ➡️ Take five professional development courses | While I still want to dabble with coding in the future, I would rather make it a priority to take some of the professional development courses offered by my employer. This one may seem similar to the last goal I just swapped, but I think that it’s important for me to take accredited college classes as well as shorter courses that hone my professional skills.

Looking at these goals that I’ve edited makes me smile because all of these changes are indicative of this new and exciting chapter in my life. And now that I’m becoming more settled in my old/new home in New York, I am ready to make goals a priority for my remaining months as a twenty-five-year-old.

Let me know what you think!
